Is An AI Data Center Coming to a Neighborhood Near You? Yes, And You’re Not Going to Like It.

Somewhere in the Desert Southwest
The former mayor of Ridgecrest California, Peggy Breeden, wants some facts before she can decide to support or reject the Inyokern Data Center. She “believes she is against” but…
None of us should be surprised to learn that Breeden has no analytical skills, common sense or principles. She’s the same one that wants to build a freeway overpass and a truck stop at Highway 395 so Ridgecrest can attract an In-and-Out burger while saying that 5 million cars pass by Ridgecrest on 395 each year. Ron Strand and Eric Bruen will tell you the same thing. “We’re gonna grow and prosper!” they exclaim.
Do the math, divide by 365, and that would be 13,698 cars and trucks per day. They think Ridgecrustaceans are stupid. We know you’re quite intelligent, evidenced by the amazing public comments in opposition to the data center at both the city council last Wednesday and the IWV Water District last night.

First, please see an excellent power point presentation from the Indian Wells Valley Water District, prepared by George Croll.
No one can argue that there aren’t some extremely malevolent forces at play in the world today. We’re all guilty of harboring an attitude that life in the future will be what we’ve become accustomed to. That’s called normalcy bias.
The immediate reaction to news that an AI data center was being planned for a small community in California’s Mojave Desert was visceral. It was a gut punch to the entire Indian Wells Valley . Never before have the residents of Inyokern and Ridgecrest jumped off their Barcaloungers so quickly and with such great emotion. Talk about pissed-off nimbyism! Can you blame them?
Unfortunately, you wouldn’t see that reaction if the developer had announced plans to build his center in say, Trona or Lone Pine. Maybe Bishop would like one too?
The point is this, these things portend a very nasty future, you know it and I know it. You might want to think about objecting to them anywhere they are. We need rules and laws, not for us but for billionaire oligarchs trying to remake the world and depopulate humanity while they confine the rest of us in a digital gulag.
And we need strong leadership in our small cities and towns, not low-IQ pandering politicians who need to think about things or who hold their opinions subject to determinations of the California Energy Commission before they take a position. Do you think the Ridgecrest City Council members are hoping the “Anti AI, No Data Center” movement will go away when the CEC gives the green light? Intervenor letters don’t say “no”, this is unacceptable. They say nothing and will do nothing but delay the inevitable decision the council must make whether it be a public statement or an action at the county level.
What becomes of a country run by a multitude of corporations owned by madmen backed by trillions of dollars (and your retirement accounts) to spend on AI data centers? A country run by AI technocrats developing superweapons? A country that’s been invaded by millions of people that don’t speak our language and who don’t respect our laws or our Constitution and who are intended to replace you? A country that’s $40 trillion in debt while borrowing $1.5 trillion per year just to pay the interest on previously created debt?
As we approach the 250th anniversary of the founding of our nation, pray that our leaders navigate the epic times ahead for the betterment of our nation and our citizens, and know that you are an individual with God-given rights that can never be taken from you, not a non-essential pawn in a collective, waiting to be fed bugs while you’re confined in the corporatist’s utopia of 15-minute cities.
It’s a fact that these rights, including the freedom of unrestricted, anonymous travel, and the right to grow food, to raise chickens and cattle, and to speak loudly and clearly are all enshrined in our Constitution, which is unlike any other country in the world. It’s your life and your country, and you have the right to say “NO” to the world of the AI Technocrats. Don’t play along with them.

Anthropic Warns: Pause Out of Control AI Development Before it Escapes Human Control.
“Artificial intelligence company Anthropic suggested Thursday a global pause on building the most powerful AI systems as the latest models are beginning to show signs they could escape human control.”
The Water Economics of Data Centers
“A recent Gallup poll shows that nearly 70% of Americans oppose the construction of a data center in their communities, highlighting the rise of local resistance movements against hyperscaler buildouts. This resistance is driven by concerns over skyrocketing power bills, the destruction of farmland as it is transformed into industrial-scale AI infrastructure, and fears that data centers will drain local resources, particularly water.”
